The Pontas team is honored to represent Asia Literary Agency exclusively in Germany, France, Italy, Scandinavia, Brazil, Spain, Portugal and Latin America. The catalogue includes some of the most interesting and upcoming literary voices from South East Asia.
The Asia Literary Agency is a new Asian-focused agency founded by Kelly Falconer, former literary editor of the Asia Literary Review, who said: “The birth of the Asia Literary Agency is testament to the huge growth in interest and availability of Asian literature, and I am thrilled to be representing many of the most exciting contemporary voices coming out of Asia. The Agency will shine a spotlight on the huge wealth of literary talent that exists in our region of the world, and work as one of only a handful of agencies dedicated to Asian writers, to experts on Asia and to writers living in this vast region.”
The agency currently represents authors from China, India, Vietnam, Thailand and Burma, including award-winning writer Nguyen Phan Que Mai and Ayesha Heble who was shortlisted for the Tibor Jones South Asia Prize 2013. The Asia Literary Agency adds to Hong Kong's increasing prominence on the global literary map. The city is also home to the Man Asian Literary Prize, Asia's most prestigious prize for Asian writers.
The two titles currently ready for submission are Third Person Singular by Ayesha Heble (India) andCurtain of Rain by Tew Bunnag (Thailand). Both authors in the photos above.
