The London Book Fair 2025 was once again held at Olympia between March 11th and March 13th and Anna Soler-Pont and Carla Briner attended on behalf of the Pontas Agency. The fair was busy and buzzing, despite so many conversations started with the current state of the world, with so many ongoing wars and conflicts. It was, once again, a great opportunity for publishing professionals from all over to meet in person and talk about books, translations, film and TV adaptations, audiobooks and audio dramas.
It was also a week to catch up with some of our UK-based clients, who we met up with for lovely conversations over dinner and drinks. In the photos above, we met with Swedish author Marie Bennett (above left), who has lived in London for many years. Marie Bennett’s debut novel, Hotel Angleterre, was originally published in Swedish in 2015 and she is currently working on her second novel, this time writing in English. We also met Avani Shah (pictured above with Carla Briner) for the first time, who is a new Norwich-based Pontas client currently working on her debut novel. Stay tuned for more on that front soon!
The German translation from the Catalan Tots aquells mars (All Those Seas) by Laia Aguilar will soon be published by Thiele Verlag under the slightly changed title Alle Meine Meere, and the publisher Daniela Thiele (above left) showed us the beautiful cover. We also met with the English-language editor of French author Anne Sénès' debut Chambre double (Double Room), Karen Sullivan, who is publishing the novel at Orenda Books in June and proofs are fresh from the press. Alice Banks (above right), the translator of into English, also passed by our table to say hi. The novel has also been optioned to be adapted as a feature film soon!
Meetings with the Audible team (above left) are always fun and full of ideas and new projects; and it was wonderful to celebrate with scout Florine Lips (above right) that one of her clients optioned the audiovisual rights to Operación Kerman (Operation Kerman) by Sama Helalli.
The paperback editions of Jill Johnson’s Devil’s Breath and Hell’s Bells are out now in the UK and Carla and Anna were able to celebrate it with the author during the fair.
London was starting the bloom, These Letters End In Tears by Musih Tedji Xaviere was shortlisted for The British Book Awards 2025 and so many things to follow up! We had a great London Book Fair 2025!
