Pontas enjoyed attending The London Book Fair 2015 (April 14-16) with Spring sunshine streaming through the Olympia building and international interest heating up for Pontas authors. Marina Penalva, Jessica Craig, Maria Cardona and Anna Soler-Pont collectively met with over 200 international editors and film producers and discussed titles and authors from the agency, besides having several meetings, lunches, teas and dinners the days before and the days after in London.
The buzz around Jack Cheng’s See you in Cosmos, Carl Sagan increased during the fair, with World English, German, Spanish, French, Korean, and Portuguese deals done in the lead-up to the fair. Also a pre-empt for German rights was accepted to The Last Way Out (La última salida) by Federico Axat, a gripping thriller that caught many editors' attention.
Meanwhile Pontas organized a casual cocktail party with Milena Busquets and representatives of the 30 international publishing houses who have published or are about to publish her novel This Too Shall Pass (También esto pasará).
The London Book Fair International Excellence Awards, held in partnership with The UK Publishers Association, took place at Olympia's Conference Center on April 14th. The award for “Best International Literary Agent” went to German agent Nicole Witt (Literarische Agentur Mertin Inh.). Anna Soler-Pont was shortlisted together with French agent Pierre Astier (Agence Astier-Pecher) and American Tom Colchie (Thomas Colchie Agency).
