Clara Rosell
I was born in 1995 in Richmond, VA (USA) to Catalan parents and moved from the East to the West coast when I was too young to remember. What I do remember the most about growing up is having been an avid reader from a very young age. Some of my fondest memories are of regular trips to our local library and the thrill of attending Scholastic book fairs at school. Years later, my family and I moved back to Catalonia and I eventually settled in Barcelona to study. After a tricky (and failed) endeavor into the world of biological science, I drastically switched paths and graduated with honors in English Studies from the University of Barcelona.
In 2017, as an undergrad intern at local independent publisher L’Altra Editorial, I realized that books had always been my calling and decided that I would indeed try my best to be able to work in the industry. After my internship, I continued working with them for a couple of years as a reader for their new YA and MG imprint, reading and reviewing manuscripts and potential titles for translation and publication. In 2018 I joined the team of booksellers at renowned bookstore La Central in Barcelona while completing my MA in Construction and Representation of Cultural Identities, with a focus in contemporary American literature, at the University of Barcelona. Working as a full-time bookseller gave me the chance to experience the magic of staying up to date on new titles and publishers, learning about the market, and recommending old and new favorites.
In 2021 I joined the Pontas team, delighted with the opportunity to continue following my passion for books and take such a crucial step for my future in publishing.
